Teams from the JTED @ Mountain View Culinary Arts program and the Sahuarita High School JTED Culinary program won first place awards at the 2016 Southwest Gas Arizona ProStart Invitational in the Culinary and Management categories respectfully on Jan. 16. The Sahuarita team also earned second place in Culinary competition.
The Culinary teams prepared a three-course meal in 60 minutes, while using only two butane burners, and management teams presented a business proposal for an original restaurant concept to a panel of industry judges.
These students have now won the opportunity to compete at the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation’s National ProStart Invitational, April 29 – May 1, 2016, in Grapevine, Texas.
The 2016 Arizona ProStart Competition team winners are:
First Place Management: Sahuarita High School
First Place Culinary: JTED @ Mountain View
Second Place Culinary: Sahuarita High School
Third Place Culinary: East Valley Institute of Technology
