July 6, 2020

Dear new and returning JTED students:

Get ready for a great new school year! We’re looking to start our JTED programs online on Monday, Aug. 10, pending JTED Governing Board approval. Our original start date was Aug. 6. Most of the school districts in our community are reopening with remote learning the week of Aug. 5th or Aug. 10th. We realize that it’s important to our students, and their families, to align their JTED Career and Technical Education programs with their academic school year.

We are investing in new technology, effective and engaging online curriculum, and professional development for our teachers to ensure you receive the best online experience possible. We will continue to evaluate the coronavirus situation and bring our programs back to in-person classes as soon as it is safe to do so. We’ve implemented stringent safety protocols for when we all return to campus to keep you and our staff healthy.

The word of the year is “flexible.” We are being flexible because there is no reason that you should be short-changed on your Career and Technical Education opportunity. Thank you for placing your trust in JTED and for being patient with us. We look forward to helping you succeed!

Please contact me or any member of our JTED team at any time if you have questions.

Sincerely,

Kathy Prather,
Superintendent/CEO

Pima JTED is working closely with State, local officials, and the Pima County Health Department to determine when and how to resume in-person classes. We will communicate our plans for reopening on this website, and send communications to students and parents. If you are a new or returning student, please notify our Registrars if there are any changes to your contact information. When we do reopen our campuses, the following protocols will apply while there are active COVID-19 cases in our community:

  • fatigue
  • congestion or runny nose
  • cough
  • vomiting
  • diarrhea
  • new loss of taste or smell

Students and staff must report immediately to a teacher or supervisor if they develop symptoms or have a positive COVID-19 test.

Every person who enters a Pima JTED campus must practice social distancing, maintaining a six-foot distance apart from other individuals at all times possible.

Pima JTED requires everyone on campus to wear cloth face coverings (*Subject to health conditions stated below). Students will not be required to wear face coverings during physical activity, or if there is appropriate physical distancing while outdoors.

  • *Any student who has difficulty breathing or who is incapable of physically removing the face covering on his/her own will not wear cloth face coverings, and alternate methods of protection will be discussed by parents and staff.
