Dear Pima JTED Faculty and Staff:
Next Tuesday, July 14th, we will be asking our Pima JTED Governing Board to approve Monday, August 10th as the new start of school date. We feel that this later start date will provide important additional time for our instructors to prepare for the online learning. Last month, Governor Doug Ducey signed an executive order pushing the start of school for in-person classes in Arizona back to August 17. This target date of in-person learning is subject to change, due to the uncertainty of the COVID-19 virus spread in our community. In the meantime, we will start online August 10th until cleared otherwise.
It is in our students’ best interest to align our CTE programs with their regular school schedule and get as close to following our member district calendars as possible.
For both our teachers and support staff, your supervisor will be in contact with you to discuss flexible options for returning to our JTED campus beginning July 29, including delivering online instruction from our JTED facilities. For those of you who do return to campus, we will have stringent protocols in place to keep our staff and students as safe as possible. We will keep you informed about these protocols, and you may view information on our website https://pimajted.org/covid19/
We are making significant investments in new technology, professional development, and protective equipment and supplies. Our administrators and counselors are working every day to make sure you have the support you need to succeed. I’m thankful we have you on our JTED team. I know working together we will provide an incredible year of opportunities for our students.
