Professional Growth Hours

The following workshops are designed for ALL CTE teachers (Provisionally or Standard Certified). Professional growth hour certificates will be awarded upon completion of each workshop.  Teachers with a Standard CTE Certificate will need to complete 90 hours each six years to renew their Standard CTE Certificate for another six years.

Creating PowerPoint Presentations

Instructor:  Lee Jessen
For:  Support Staff and Teachers
Certificate:  2 Professional Growth Hours

Workshop Description:

This two-hour workshop will focus on how to create a PowerPoint and its best practices.  Guidelines for PowerPoints will address topics such as font size and style, key terms, amount of text and others. Technical aspects of creating a PowerPoint will include adding text and pictures, tables, and layout. Participants will create a PowerPoint for use in their classroom.

Increasing Non-Traditional Enrollment and Retention

Workshop Description: 

There are two performance measures that we are committed to being more intentional about; improving “non-traditional enrollment” and “non-traditional completion”. Do programs which are traditional for males attract females? Furthermore, once in the program does the female student stay and complete the program? Likewise, are we actively promoting programs that are traditional for females to our male students? Do they stick with it and complete the program?

Collaboration Day

Certificate:  Professional Growth Hours (hours will reflect collaboration hours spent)

Workshop Description: 

The Professional Development department at Pima JTED will gladly host events for all teachers within a CTE Program to come together for the purpose of collaboration. (Example: Construction Collaboration Day)

Pima JTED will facilitate the day and handle registration and certificates.  The agenda for the day will be developed by the teachers through their JTED – Wide Advisory Committees.

Each JTED-Wide Advisory Committee Facilitators (usually a CTE Director) will bring the proposal forward at the monthly CTE Director’s Meeting for approval.

This workshop is designed for you to gain knowledge and skills that will help you be successful and enjoy your experience as a JTED Substitute.  Remember, our goal is to make every day a learning day at JTED.

Included in the day:  Tips for Subs; Substitute duties; What is expected of students; What to do in emergency situations; Getting and giving feedback; Opportunity to teach a CTE Curriculum Connection lesson; Bag of tricks.

JTED Lab Assistant Training

Workshop Description:

August 26, 2020: Day 1 will be an overview of Career and Technical Education, learning Basic Google applications such as Gmail, Calendar, Sheets, Sides, Meet, etc., and practical methods to support your teacher in a virtual classroom.

August 27, 2020:  Day 2 will focus upon Google Classroom and active participation strategies, such as Kahoot, Quizlet, Ed Puzzles, Choice Boards, etc.  which will enhance learning in a virtual classroom.
