Teacher Summer Externship

Pima JTED Satellite and Central Campus CTE instructors are eligible to apply for the JTED Fund Teacher Summer Externship. A JTED Fund committee will select up to 10 Career and Technical Education teachers to work for two weeks in a business that is related to their program area during the summer.

  • The fund will pay selected teachers $1,600 to work 80 hours (two 40-hour work weeks) in an approved industry.
  • Members of the JTED Fund will be soliciting business participants, however teachers are encouraged to find a business on their own in their field that is willing to participate in this project.
  • The JTED Fund reserves the right to only approve businesses that are in good community standing, and align with and/or uphold the mission, vision, and values of a public school district.
  • Teachers who apply for the Externship may not have conflict of interest with the business they propose, including but not limited to any form of ownership or vested interest in the business. They also must not be directly related to anyone who has a vested interest, or ownership in the business selected for the Summer Externship.
  • Applicants must complete the form below, and include a statement (up to 500 words) describing how the Summer Externship will affect their teaching.
  • The approved business must agree to provide the JTED Fund with a written summary of the Externship experience.
  • The JTED Fund will notify teachers who have been selected to participate in the Summer Externship via email.
  • All JTED Fund Committee decisions are final. The committee is independent of the Pima JTED District and its Governing Board.
  • Upon completion of the Externship, teachers are required to notify the JTED Fund and allow up to 30 days for payment to be processed.
