Superintendent/CEO Kathy Prather announced that Pima JTED has successfully completed an important step toward receiving $2.7 million in federal funding for the purchase of Lot 3, which will allow for expansion of the JTED @ The Bridges campus. The funding, made possible through the federal appropriations process and supported by Congressman Juan Ciscomani, has been approved by both congressional committees and the President.
Before funds could be released, JTED was required to complete an Environmental Assessment (EA). The assessment determined there would be no environmental impact, resulting in a formal Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI).
During its Regular October meeting the JTED Governing Board authorized staff to begin the next step — the public outreach process. The publication of the following meeting notes and the FONSI are being shared with the community, and people are welcome to respond during a 15-day public comment period. After the comment period closes, all feedback and responses will be compiled into the official EA record.
This marks a major milestone in JTED’s continued growth and commitment to expanding opportunities for students.
FINDING OF NO SIGNIFICANT IMPACT
The JTED has determined the project will have no significant impact on the human environment. Therefore, an Environmental Impact Statement under the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) is not required. Additional project information is contained in the Environmental Review Record (ERR) on file at JTED Bridges II, LLC at 20 East Congress Street, Suite 300 in Tucson, Arizona and may be examined or copied weekdays 8 AM to 5 PM.
PUBLIC COMMENTS
Any individual, group, or agency may submit written comments on the ERR to JTED addressed to Ms. Tina Norton. All comments received by October 10, 2025 will be considered by JTED prior to authorizing submission of a request for release of funds. Comments should specify which Notice they are addressing.
