r realistic c conventional i investigative

Learn all aspects of construction including design, estimating, carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, and welding. Students also visit industry workplaces, demonstrate their skills in competitions, and have industry professionals visit the classroom.


Eligibility

Grades 10-12

Things to Consider

  1. You must have the ability to lift 50 lbs.
  2. You must have the ability to stand for long periods of time.
  3. Strong communication skills are necessary.
  4. You must have the ability to work outdoors in all seasons.
  5. If you enjoy working with your hands it will be beneficial.

  • Apprenticeship in Electrical, Masonry, Carpentry, Plumbing, or Welding 
  • Highway Maintenance Worker

  • Floor and Carpet Layer

JTED @ STAR

Schedule Availability

  • Tuesdays & Thursdays 3:45 to 7:45 p.m. and two Saturdays per month 8 a.m to 4 p.m.
  • Monday through Friday bell schedule

JTED @ Pima Community College (Downtown)

1255 North Stone Ave.

Schedule Availability

  • Classes are scheduled per semester (days and times will vary)
  • Students are expected to be on campus 2 evenings a week (timeframes will vary by school year)

Program Completion/Sequence

Year 1

Safety training, introduction to masonry, carpentry, electrical, and plumbing

Year 2

Intermediate level exposure to masonry, carpentry, electrical, and plumbing plus internship opportunity in the summer

Year 3

Advanced exposure to masonry, carpentry, electrical, and plumbing with opportunities for industry experience

Entrance Requirements for Year 2 & 3

Successful completion of Construction Technologies. To include:

  • Year 2: Successful completion of Year 1 
  • Year 3: Successful completion of Year 2

  • Year 1:
    • OSHA 10 – Construction
    • NCCER Core
    • Heartsaver CPR
    • First Aid Training
