Law, Public Safety & Security

Earn your Protection Officer certification M.O.A.B. (Management of Aggressive Behaviors, CPR, and Mental Health First Aid. Learn about criminal justice, public safety, legal systems, search and seizure, law enforcement procedures, and forensics from experienced law enforcement instructors.

Things to Consider about This Program

  • Physical training and physical scenarios occur throughout program
  • Students will learn firearm safety and will handle artificial guns
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Professional behavior is expected due to mature content of class
  • Students will learn handcuffing/detaining skills and therefore students will have these skills performed on them as well
  • This class meets two Saturdays per month in addition to the two 4 hour weekday classes
  • There will be visits to Police and 911 training centers
  • Pima Community College Dual Enrollment requires an additional 4 hours of reading/preparation per week outside of regular class time

  • Pre-participation physical from healthcare provider (within the last year and updated annually)

Program Completion/Sequence

  • Semester 1: History of Law Enforcement, Handcuffing, Crime scene investigation, Scenario based learning, Criminal law and Report writing
  • Semester 2: Continued scenario based learning, field trips to crime lab, court houses and other locations, physical fitness testing, leadership training and continued crime scene investigation and forensic science.
  • This program is completed in one school year
