Student Welding

This program explores the basic skills used in metalworking, manufacturing and industrial production. Students will learn basic safety techniques, sheet metal work, oxy-fuel cutting, multiple welding processes, welding terminology,  metal and tool identification, and much more. This class places a heavy emphasis on professional skills and job placement using the help from industry partners of the program.

  • Grade 12

  • Year 1:
    • Grade 11
  • Year 2:
    • Successful completion of WLD110

Other Requirements

JTED @ Pima Community College

  • Students are required to attend an Information Session in the Spring semester (prior to JTED enrollment)
    • JTED will communicate with students and parents the days and times of the sessions
  • Parents/Guardians complete JTED enrollment 
  • Students complete PCC Onboarding requirements
    • Apply to PCC 
  • Attend JTED & PCC Orientation before classes start in August

  • JTED @ Pima Community College
    • 2 years to complete

  1. Physically able to lift 50 lbs

JTED @ Pima Community College

  1. In this program high school students complete the Basic Welding college certificate at Pima Community College.
  2. Students provide their own transportation to the downtown campus.
  3. Your grades for this course will impact your college GPA as well as your high school GPA.
  4. Student earns college credit while in the program.

  • Mondays and Wednesdays 3:45 – 7 p.m. and one mandatory Saturday per month 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:45-7 p.m. and one mandatory Saturday per month 8 a.m.- 4 p.m.
